Manufactured 1917. Classic configuration of the 1902 Military model with tapered half-moon front sight, U-notch round top rear sight. Left side of slide with "PATENT / APR. 20. 1897 SEPT. 9. 1902" and "COLT'S PATENT FIRE ARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD. CONN. U.S.A" with rampant pony at rear. Right side of side with "AUTOMATIC COLT / CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS". Left side of trigger guard with "VP" proof and "1". Triangular rear cocking serrations. Spur hammer, lanyard loop mounted on left side of frame. High polish blue finish with case colored hammer. Colt hard rubber grips with central rampant Colt in a circle and "COLT" in banner across top. Blued 8 round magazine with heel release. CONDITION: Very good, retaining the vast majority of the high polish finish with some scattered brown losses coming through, mostly visible on slide towards muzzle. Right side of slide has 5 spots of fine pitting, largest a nominal 3/8" x 1/8". Back strap largely gunmetal grey some traces of blue visible on lower left, front strap essentially gunmetal grey. Case colors on hammer are faded but visible with some high edge losses and silvering where hammer sits in slot. Some marks from handling and storage. Mechanically fine, bore has heavy frosting in the grooves with softened rifling. EMW
