Sharp's heavy barrel "Buffalo Rifle" serial numbered C. 45625 and most likely assembled from leftover military and custom parts in the day. 26" octagon barrel in .45 caliber with no markings other than "P" with Crown and "MT" to lower right of rear sight, measuring 1 -1/4" across from flat to flat with blade front sight and rear flip buckhorn sight. Standard action with double set triggers and Sharp's 1852 patent. Walnut checkered standard stock with iron hardware. Walnut 2-screw Schnabel plain forearm. CONDITION: Barrel at one time was painted black and has worn down to the original bluish-grey. Action shows traces of case colors with balance going to a silver patina. Traces of original varnish with usage dings and marks. Shootable bore with good mechanics. DLM
