German World War II brass single barrel flare pistol. These flare pistols were only made for a few years with production starting in 1935. Approximately 1400 of these flare pistols were produced in single and double barrel configuration. Of the 1400, about half were produced as the single barrel variant. The flare pistol is marked "A.W.W. 37 / L.Nr. 396" on the left side of the frame. Only 500 of the total production were manufactured with the marking "A.W.W.37". The gun is also marked with standard Kriegsmarine stamps. The flare pistol features a pair of wood grips. CONDITION: The brass exhibits a pleasing dark patina with evidence of a light cleaning. All markings remain bold. The grips exhibit various cracks and handling wear. The flare pistol does not function properly, as the trigger does not function when set to "feuer". Overall good. PROVENANCE: This flare pistol was once part of the renowned collection of Howard Resnick. JLD
