Very nice World War I American Propeller Manufacturing Company wood airplane propeller which was made for the Curtiss H-8 US Navy Flying Boat. The American Propeller Manufacturing Company was one of the most famous propeller manufacturers during the First World War. The Curtiss Model H-8 was introduced to aviation in 1917 and was a revolutionary flying boat. This propeller is crafted from wood and exhibits an old clear lacquer finish with brass edges. The bottom of the center hub is marked with the specifications, however they are partially obscured but appear to read "8-8X5.90 / PP16Z L.H. / TYPE H-8-1". The back of the hub is stamped with the "USN" and anchor mark. There are 2 American Propeller Manufacturing Company decals on each end of the wood blade that read "AMERICAN PROPELLER COMPANY / PARAGON / BALTIMORE MARYLAND U.S.A.". The propeller comes with a wood cover for the back of the hub. CONDITION: The propeller exhibits various scratches and dents but is in overall good condition and presents well. Decals are worn. Although this propeller is not airworthy, it is worthy of display in a home, office, or restaurant. JLD
