Large and attractive breech loading 33” bronze yacht salute cannon marked on breech “CHAS. C. HUTCHINSON / 152 STATE STREET / BOSTON” over federal eagle. This cannon was manufactured circa late 1800s or early 1900s by the Strong Fire Arms Co. and retailed by Charles Hutchinson of Boston. Chambered for 2 gauge blank shells with manually operated extractor. Cannon is mounted to a sturdy naval style hardwood carriage with brass mounts and 4 leather wrapped wood wheels. CONDITION: Very good overall. Cannon exhibits a very attractive, dark mellow patina with a few scattered spots of verdigris. Markings somewhat faint from polishing. Carriage is fine retaining nearly all of its original, attic darkened finish. Dark bore with some abrasions. Firing mechanism requires attention, with firing pin having no spring tension. BRM.
