A No. 39 brass top bell bottom railroad lantern made for the Boston & Lowell RR by the Steam Gauge & Lantern Co. Frame is a single guard model with bayonet base and No. 2 functioning ratchet burner. It is nicely embossed "B.&L.R.R." on the lid reflector over the leaf-style latch spring. The base is not correct for this model and has been modified. The frame has light surface etching and minor dings in the top...could use a good cleaning. The globe is a **stunning** cobalt blue, embossed "B&LRR" in serif font within rectangular panel. The globe has great translucence, not too dark, and showing minimal RR wear.
