A scarce Portland & Rumford Falls RR lantern made by the Railroad Signal Lamp & Lantern Co. It's their No. 11 Steel Guard model with single globe guard, correct bayonet fount with No. 1 functioning ratchet burner, and early globe holder release in chimney. The lantern is nicely embossed "P&RFRR". The lid latch spring is a looped wire replacement. The frame has light surface etching and has been cleaned nicely and protected. Globe is a stunning No. 39 extended base type, flashed red, with "P&RF RY" nicely embossed in serif font inside rectangular panel. The globe has great translucence and very little indication of RR wear. This unit is display-ready.
