US M1841 Mississippi Rifle manufactured by Robbins, Kendall, and Lawrence and dated 1847. 33" round barrel in .58 caliber rifled with dovetail rear sight and blade front. Full length brass tipped trumpet head ramrod. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 2 barrel band rifle configuration with brass mountings, complete with military buttplate and implement compartment. Implement compartment has spare nipple, screwdriver/nipple cleaning tool, and hangtang inside from when this rifle was previously sold. Barrel is marked "US" / "JCB" / "P" and is dated 1847 near tang. Left flat of stock opposite lock bears "JH" and "WAT" cartouches. CONDITION: Good, with iron assemblies turned a heavy brown patina. Brass components are a pleasing mellow patina. Stock is very good as lightly cleaned in certain areas with cartouches sharp and no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is dark with no visible rifling remaining. TON
