Circa 1928. A German built boxlock drilling chambered for 16 bore and 5.4mm with 28 - 1/2" shoe lump barrels. The blued shotgun barrels are chambered for 2 - 1/2" cartridges and are fit with extractors. The tapered machined top rib is fit with U-notch flip-up rear sight and blade front sight. The interior of the rib is rifled for the 5.4mm cartridge. Top of the right barrel is marked "E.SCHMIDT & HABERMANN" and "KRUPP STAHL" while the top of the left barrel is marked "SUHL" and "KRUPP STAHL". The left side of the rib towards the breech has German Proof marks and "5,4mm". Bottom of both barrels marked "FLUSSSTAHL - KRUPP - ESSEN with German proof marks and the right side also has the gun's serial number "41878". The barrel flats have German nitro proof marks. Swivel loop for sling is attached to the bottom of the rib. The action body with a trace of case color hardened finish with more in protected areas has light scroll engraving with the bottom also engraved "WALDLAUFER D.R.G.M." and "ESHA" in banner. Top of the action body is stippled. The boxlock action is fit with a Greener side safety, cocking indicator pins, blued top lever with both sides of the top lever checkered, blued and checkered slide to cock rifled barrel and raise rear sight and double triggers protected by a light scroll engraved trigger guard. The straight grain reddish-brown European pistol gripped walnut stock has a hard rubber grip cap, cheekpiece, swivel loop for sling and a hard rubber buttplate. Splinter forend with Deeley style lever release. CONDITION: Good with need for repair. Barrels retain most of their bluing with use marks and light freckling and bores are good. Buttstock has a crack approximately 1" long behind top tang and both sides of stock are not fit tight against the action body creating movement. Buttsotck and forend both with handling marks. Top slide doesn't cock the gun so the rifled barrel is not able to fire and is also unable to raise the folding rear sight. Action is tight and the triggers are crisp. (CP)
