Circa 1900. An English built 28 bore boxlock with 28" dovetail lump blacked steel barrels with dolls head rib extension 3rd bite fastener are fit with extractors, tapered concave game rib with steel front bead sight. The top of the rib is roll stamped "J. BLANCH & SON. 29 GRACE CHURCH ST. LONDON." Barrel flats have London nitro proof marks and the barrel serial number of 5919. The muted case color action body is adorned with English scroll engraving and blacked engraved top lever is checkered on left side of thumbpiece. Screw grip boxlock action features disc set strikers, intercepting sears, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold just forward of the finely checkered safety slide, and an engraved trigger guard extending to a long bottom strap protecting the double triggers. The straight hand grip reddish-orange English walnut stock has 2-panel classic flat-top, point pattern checkering, vacant silver stock oval, and a serrated butt. Splinter forend with similar flat-top, point pattern checkering, and Anson style push-button release. CONDITION: Very Good. Action body retains trace amounts of case color finish with more in protected areas. Barrels retain 50% blackening with handling marks. Bores are bright and shiny. The stock and fore-end have handling marks, there is evidence of a repair behind the top tang and the forend has bruising in the checkering. Triggers are crisp, barrels tight on face. (CP)
