Very nice small World War II ephemera grouping of Lt. Robert A. Bonner who served throughout the war and into the occupation with the 1st Infantry Division. Bonner, who landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion, collected various souvenirs throughout the 1st Infantry Division's campaigns across Europe. This lot includes several pieces of ephemera from Bonner including his high condition Firestone M-1 helmet liner which is marked on the interior with his laundry number. The lot also includes a crate which is marked with his information that he used to ship some of the items home. The crate contains various pieces of ephemera including translation documents, letters, newspaper articles, foreign currency, photos (some are graphic and show charred bodies), and a wonderfully made 26th Infantry Regiment plaque. There are also several occupation guides, his medals, post cards, various occupation documents, his original silver star citation, 2 1st ID patches (one is German made) and 2 custom skull patches with Bonner's name. CONDITION: Helmet liner is in excellent condition with scattered blemishes. All paper items exhibit blemishes that are typical of old ephemera. Overall fair-excellent. PROVENANCE: Lt. Robert A. Bonner Collection. JLD
