Circa 1980. A Japanese built 12 bore boxlock with 26" mono-bloc blued steel barrels, fit with ejectors and a tapered, raised, ventilated, machined flat top rib with both a white middle and white front bead sights. Top of the rib reads "PIGEON GRADE". The side of the left barrel is rolled stamped "PIGEON GRADE-WINCHESTER - MODEL 23 XTR - 12 GAUGE 3" -76mm". Bottom of both barrels with Winchester Proof Markings while the right barrel is marked "IMP.CYL ****" and "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL" and the left barrel is marked "IMP.MOD **". Barrel flats with serial number "002715", gauge, and chamber size. The coin finish action body is adorned with light scrolls, on the bottom of the action body is a pigeon and "WINCHESTER" inside an oval, and the top lever is checkered on the left side of thumbpiece. Boxlock action features an automatic safety with "S" engraved just forward of the checkered safety slide and a lightly engraved trigger guard protecting the black checkered single mechanical trigger. The safety slide is also the barrel selector with "R" and "L" to its side. The round knob pistol hand gripped straight grained reddish-orange walnut stock has 2 panel point pattern checkering and a black plastic buttplate with white line". The splinter style fore-end has an Anson style push button release. Gun resides in a felt covered trunk case by Unique Cases. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels have slight handling/use marks and retains 95% blue and bores are bright and shiny. Underside of rib has 2 Phillips head screws. Buttstock and forend have slight handling/storage marks and toe of buttstock has a small chip in the wood just ahead of buttplate. Left side of forend is cracked. Trigger is crisp, barrels tight on face, and ejectors timed well. Case in very good condition. (CP)
