Circa 1999. A German-built 20 bore sidelock with 26 - 3/4" shoe lump blued Krupp 3-ring steel barrels with a rib extension third bite fastener, fit with ejectors and a tapered machined concave game rib with a brass bead front sight. The side of the right barrel reads "Krupp Stahl" with 3 interlocking rings. The side of the left barrel reads "GEBR MERKEL SUHL MADE IN GERMANY". Bottom of the left barrel with importers marking. Barrel flats with German proof marks and serial number "480550". The coin finish action body is adorned with scrolls and the blued top lever is checkered on the left side of thumbpiece. Sidelock action features disc set strikers, side clips, Greener cross bolt, cocking indicators, automatic safety with "S" engraved just forward of the checkered safety slide and a lightly engraved blued trigger guard extending to a long lightly engraved bottom strap protecting the double triggers. The classic English straight hand grip reddish-orange Turkish walnut stock with contrasting figure has 2-panel point pattern checkering and a black plastic buttplate marked "Gebr. Merkel Suhl". The splinter forend has a Deeley style lever release. Gun resides in a felt-covered trunk case by Unique Cases. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels have handling/use marks and retains 95% blue and bores are bright and shiny. Buttstock and forend have slight handling/storage marks. Triggers are crisp, barrels tight on face and ejectors timed well. Case in very good condition. Beautiful high-quality shotgun by one of the most famous firms in Germany.
