This rifle falls into the correct serial number range for a M1903A4 produced by Remington as per both Brophy and Campbell. Barrel with 2 groove rifling, marked "RA / (Flaming Bomb) / 8 - 43" with front sight blade. As the 1903A4 had the front sight sight removed, this is a period replacement. Scant stock with no finger grooves, faint crossed cannons cartouche and FJA in a lozenge on left side above trigger guard, and an "RIA / EB" proof on left side. Numerous proofs ahead of bottom metal including "1" "z" "5" in a triangle, "65" in a triangle, "69" in an oval, and what appears to be a "19" in a box. "R" proof and "G" in a circle behind trigger guard in wood. "R" proofs visible on bolt, firing pin assembly, safety, follower spring, trigger. Parkerized Refield scope mount with Lyman All-American 2 - 1/2x scope. Checkered buttplate with trap. CONDITION: Very good, with parkerization a grey-green hue with some brown oil staining. Some handling marks throughout, including some that have silvered, primarily to muzzle. Buttplate with even oxidation throughout. Stock is very good as rebuilt, lightly sanded and refinished, with softness to legends as a result. Left side near buttplate has a large patch of scattered woodfill. Some light handling marks throughout, including some dings and pressure marks. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling. Scope somewhat hazy, may clean. EMW
