U.S. Springfield Model 1896 Krag bolt action rifle. Made 1896 at Springfield Arsenal. Standard markings on the left side of the receiver. There is a boxed "JLA/1897" cartouche on the left side of the stock. There is a circled "P" firing proof on the wrist. Pedestal blade front sight with a 1901 pattern rear ladder sight. Original blued finish and oil finished wood stock. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its original finish with light wear. Wood has a few handling marks and scratches. There is a 2 - 1/2" crack on the left toe of the buttstock. Bore has frosting in the grooves, and retains good overall rifling. JWA
