Circa 2001. This handsome Spanish-built custom-built 12 bore deluxe quality sidelock with 29" chopper lump blued steel barrels are fit with ejectors, tapered, cross file cut, flat top game rib and with a brass front bead sight. The top of the right barrel is engraved "GRIFFIN & HOWE - NEW YORK." Bottom of the barrels and barrel flats have Spanish proofmarks and serial number and bottom of the left barrel is marked "MADE IN SPAIN". The coin finished action body is adorned with game scene vignettes with supporting English scrolls and rose bouquet engraving. Top lever with scrolls is checkered on left side of thumbpiece. The right lock has 2 pheasants taking flight in woodland scene and the left lock has 2 woodcock in flight also in a similar woodland scene. Bottom of action body with English scroll and "GRIFFIN & HOWE NEW YORK" in gold. Round body sidelock action features, disc set strikers, gas vents, hand detachment lever for locks, cocking indicators, automatic safety with "SAFE" in gold just forward of the engraved and serrated safety slide and an engraved right edge rolled trigger guard extending to a long engraved bottom strap with serial number "276-01" protecting the double triggers with the front articulated. A reddish brown Turkish walnut stock with English straight hand grip with strong grain and smoky feathering contrast features 2-panel point pattern checkering, engraved "AC" golden stock oval and a checkered butt. Splinter forend with similar point pattern checkering and Anson-style push-button release. Gun resides in a Griffin & Howe dark brown leather case with brass corners, Griffin & Howe black leather case trade label, Griffin & Howe selvyt cloth, cleaning accessories and a square nickel finished oil bottle. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain 98% black and bores are bright and shiny. The stock and forend have small handling and storage marks and small shake behind the safe. Triggers are crisp, barrels tight on face and ejectors are timed well. Case is also in very good condition with storage marks. Very nice game gun. CP
