Lot consists of 6 items related to western PA Civil War Units: (A) "The Empty Sleeve," framed colored poem "written and sold by a one-armed soldier of the 145th Pennsylvania Volunteers." CONDITION: Very Good, in period frame. (B) G.A.R. Medal and regimental reunion ribbon of Daniel Long, 145th PA, with obituary and family note. Long lost the use of one arm from wounds and might be the writer of the framed poem. (C) 1890s photo of mourning display for Civil War vet. Stacked rifles at left, flags, civilian portrait, Rutherford B. Hayes Post 167 Dept of Pennsylvania ribbon shown. CONDITION: Good, water stains to border and reverse. (D) Solar portrait identified in modern pencil as Lawrence Davenport, 81st Pa. Note says killed in war, but database says survived and discharged as Sergt. Major June 1865. CONDITION: Good, colored, water damage lower right corner. (E) solar portrait Emily Davenport. CONDITION: Good. (F) Impressive large framed photograph of a PA G.A.R. group posed in 5 rows on steps of large building. Flags at rear. Some men armed, most with G.A.R. uniforms and caps, many ribbons. Prominent at center one veteran sports a bucktail in his cap.
