Model 1906 Commercial manufactured by DWM for commercial distribution. Charles Kenyon explains on Page 94 of "Lugers at Random", that only approximately 750 Model 1906 Commercial Lugers were manufactured with "GESICHERT" marked Old Model 1906 Navy Model frames, likely to test public reaction or use up remaining frames that were available on hand. This example, falling in the appropriate serial number range of 25050-26800, exhibits no factory stampings on the exterior with the exception of the serial number stampings, intertwined "DWM" monogram on the toggle, and "GESICHERT" in the lower position on the frame. Extractor is stamped "GELADEN". Features include a blue finish, 4 - 3/4" pencil barrel, blade front sight, "V" notch rear sight, grip safety, as well as 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching with the exception of the trigger, which bears a matching number stamped over its former number. Firing pin is appropriately unnumbered and has been nitre blued. Complete with a unmarked period leather holster. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their period blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and thinning overall, as well as areas of light surface oxidation that are mostly present on the grip straps and grip safety. Right grip screw has been reblued, with the left appearing to have been lightly polished. Bore is bright, exhibiting oxidation in the lands and on the grooves and retains fair to good rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and some nicks to the diamonds, with the right grip panel exhibiting several impressions. Holster is poor, exhibiting age related cracking and areas of crazing overall. Stitching is poor. A rare "GESICHERT" marked DWM Model 1906 Commercial Luger. MLW
