This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/15/2022
Unmarked, which is the norm for the guns made by CC Brand. Manufactured in Norwich circa 1850. Standard form with simple bead and notch signs with fishform cock, skeleton stock, and octagonal to round barrel. Very slightly flowy trigger guard, ramrod pipe with metal trumpet head ramrod. Includes a period bomb lance with triform cutting head. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has acquired an even light pitting consistent with use at sea, with some marks from handling and use throughout. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with a few small areas of pitting. Screws have been molested. Bomb lance is very good with a deep untouched mustard patina, and unscrews appropriately. These guns were used to propel bomb lances for whale hunting prior to the use of more conventional firearms. EW
