The R&D catalogue shows they made three variants of the peacock: the large full-sized model with music, this one, a medium-sized model without music, and a much smaller one without music, which was most likely made as commission only for those who placed a paid order. Out of the many different animals they made, the peacock is viewed by museums and private collectors as being one of the most desirable, for reasons mainly pertaining to the incredibly naturalistic action in the walking, the appearance and the surprise of seeing the full fantail rising up and opening out, just as the real bird does. An absolutely amazing automaton, with a wonderful look that will capture anyone's attention.
