Lot consists of: (A) German World War II Luftwaffe 1st Model Dagger. The nickel plated steel blade is maker marked for the firm of SMF. The blade retains all of its nickel plating with light runner marks present. The cross-guard and pommel are a heavy nickel plated brass which has developed dark patina in areas. The swastika motifs on the guard and pommel have lost all of their gilding and are down to the brass base metal. The wire wrapped blue leatherette covered grip has one small area where the base leather is exposed. The scabbard has been post-War wrapped with a low quality blue leather. The fittings are made of nickel with patina and light marks throughout. The lower drag fitting is missing 1 of the screws, and the upper fitting has a deformed screw. The center band has a repaired ring. The dagger has an early nickel ringed hanger with clip attached to the daggers scabbard. CONDITION: Good. (B) German World War II Luftwaffe 2nd Model Dagger with unmarked steel blade. The blade has nice cross-graining which runs the length of the blade, with some light runner marks and spotting present. The blade appears to have some remnants of cosmoline on it. The cross-guard and pommel cap are made of darkened aluminum with most darkening remaining in the recesses. The orange wire wrapped trylon grip is intact with no visible damage, and light patina throughout. The steel scabbard was at one time electroplated with a high quality silver plating. The plating has since developed a very dark patina, with some of the white finish remaining in the recesses. An original set of Luftwaffe hangers are attached to the scabbard. The hangers have light wear with a few areas of fraying. CONDITION: Very good. DMW
