A German World War II 25 Engagement General Assault badge by the maker “JFS”. The badge is constructed of 2 separate zinc based pieces: the eagle, and the wreath. The eagle retains most of its original grey finish with remnants of the protective lacquer. The badge’s wreath retains most of its original silver wash. A heavy patina can be seen on the obverse of the badge. The “25” number box in the correct style for this manufacturer, and was, originally, attached to the badge by solder. 4 aluminum rivets can be seen on the reverse of the badge which hold the eagle firmly to the wreath. The rivets are textbook for the maker. The hinge and catch are correctly crimped in place, and the catch does have the “anti-rotation” device in the crimps recess. However the pin and catch are non-magnetic; as they should be magnetic they could possibly be replaced. The maker mark of “JFS” can be seen on the badges reverse 3 o’clock position. CONDITION: Very good. DMW
