Third Reich SS/NSKK Reiter pole topper. This SS/NSKK pole topper was designed in 1935 by the very famous silversmith in Munich, Otto Gahr. The firm of Otto Gahr also produced many other famous pole toppers for the various organizations of the Third Reich, most notably the NSDAP Deutschland Erwache Standarte Topper. Otto Gahr also produced the famous SS Honor Ring, as he was the Nazi party’s most favored silversmith. This SS/NSKK Topper is affixed to a post-War produced base, and stands approximately 9-1/2" high with an 8" wingspan. Originally, this piece would have the had been mounted so the eagle would hang horizontally. The eagle retain approximately 50% of it’s original gold plating, with light patina throughout. The silvered wreath and swastika the eagle is clutching has taken on a very appealing dark patina. The topper is soldered to the brass base with dark solder. CONDITION: Excellent. DMW
