US M1819 Hall breechloading flintlock rifle manufactured at Harpers Ferry and dated 1838. 32 - 3/4" round barrel in .52 caliber rifled with offset rear sight and offset blade front. 1 piece plain walnut stock in 3 barrel band rifle configuration complete with military buttplate. Breechblock is marked "J. H. HALL" / "H. FERRY" / "U. S." / "1838" just in front of frizzen. CONDITION: Very good, with iron assemblies retaining an untouched heavy brown patina with scattered handling and storage marks throughout. Stock is dark from handling with minor chips in ramrod channel, left side of forearm, and scattered heavy handling marks throughout. Mechanically fine. Bore is overall bright with sharp rifling and fouling near muzzle. An honest and complete M1819 Hall rifle with a desirable Mexican-American War era manufacturing date.
