1 of 172,000 Model 1842 percussion muskets produced at Springfield Arsenal between 1844 - 1855. 42" round smoothbore .69 caliber barrel with 2 iron barrel bands, double strap nosecap, and brass blade front sight. Marked with "V / P / (Eagle)" proof. Percussion lock with "(Eagle) / US" with "SPRING / FIELD / 1852" markings. Walnut full military stock with iron hardware and original steel ramrod. PROVENANCE: Rich Guckes Collection. CONDITION: Metal has pleasing silver patina with some light surface corrosion. Wood has traces of original finish with handling marks and no visible restoration. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
