1st year production Model 1816 musket made at Springfield Arsenal in 1816. 42" round smoothbore .69 caliber barrel with 2 iron bands and double strap iron nosecap. Marked at breech with "US" and "P / (Eagle)" proof. Flintlock with iron flash pan (1st ones were iron) marked with "US / (Eagle) / SPRINGFIELD" and dated 1816. Walnut stock with iron hardware, cheek dish out, and dated buttplate (1816) with illegible cartouche. Comes with original steel ramrod. PROVENANCE: Rich Guckes Collection. CONDITION: Metal has nice silvery grey patina with some light surface corrosion. Original lock. Wood has old coat of added oil with crack behind lock. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
