1 of 1,000 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 1797 flintlock muskets contracted to Owen Evans of Evansburg, Pennsylvania. 44" smoothbore .69 caliber barrel with 2 iron barrel bands with double strap nosecap. Breech marked with "CP" and "P" with Liberty Cap proof. Flintlock with "EVANS" and "CP" at rear of lock. Walnut full military stock with iron hardware with tang marked with a "3" and an "R" with possibly these being unit markings. Comes with original steel ramrod. PROVENANCE: Rich Guckes Collection. CONDITION: Metal has turned to a brown patina with some surface pitting and light rust. Flintlock appears to be original with overall nice original patina. Wood has aged patina with heavy usage marks and dings with no visible restoration. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
