Standard configuration P.08 manufactured during the opening year of WWII. The receiver bears "1939" over the chamber, with Mauser 2 "(Eagle) / 63" waffenamts followed by a eagle firing proof present on the right side. Additional firing proofs are also present on the right side of the barrel and left side of the breechblock. Toggle bears Mauser's "S/42" code. Metal components are salt blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece walnut grips. Ejector is strawed and is of earlier production. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the magazine which is mismatched. Breechblock and extractor appear to be later replacements. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal salt blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasant brown patina. Bore is bright, exhibiting light surface oxidation and strong rifling throughout. Grips show a couple scattered nicks to the diamonds, with the left grip panel bearing a crack at the base on the interior and a chip around the magazine release button.
