Manufactured 1942. Tall serrated ramp front sight, Stevens square notch adjustable rear sight. Left side of slide with 2-line 2-block patent and address information with Rampant Colt at rear, right side of slide with "COLT // SERVICE / MODEL // ACE (in lozenge) // .22 // LONG / RIFLE". Matching serial number located under the firing pin retaining plate. Right side of frame with serial number, left side with "WB" in box for Broberg. Small parts comprise a checkered spurred hammer, checkered thick tab safety, checkered slide stop, checkered magazine release, short checkered trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety. Knurled arched mainspring housing. Barrel with floating chamber designed to amplify recoil to more closely mimic a .45 ACP instead of a .22 LR. Magazine with straight pull down loading assist, baseplate marked "COLT / 22 // ACE (in lozenge) // L.R. / SERVICE MODEL". Fully checkered walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good, still retaining the vast majority of the Colt factory bluing on the frame and slide with some marks from handling and use throughout, including a few strikes to silver. Normal high edge and reciprocating areas throughout. Attractive and clear temper lines at front of slide and around slide stop notch. Straps are essentially a brown patina, with some bluing retained on the sides of the mainspring housing. Magazine is very good with some minor marks. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong rifling and a few small areas of oxidation towards muzzle.
