K98 manufactured by Steyr in 1943. Receiver is stamped "bnz/43" over the chamber with an "(Eagle) / 77" waffenamt present on the right side. Waffenamt over Steyr's "bnz" manufacturer code is illegible, but appears to be an extremely faint "WaA623" stamp. Metal components are milled. Stock is comprised of laminated wood and is mounted with a later "gqm" marked cupped buttplate. No matching numbers are present. Complete with a importer cardboard box. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear as well as some spots of oxidation that are present beneath the bluing. Bright bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Stock is good, as lightly sanded and refinished, exhibiting some scattered dings and losses, with a crack the the rear of the magazine housing that runs through to the wrist. MLW
