One of only approximately 3250 Model 60 semi-automatic rifles manufactured by Harrington & Richardson between 1943 and 1949. This example exhibits an extremely low 2-digit serial number of 92, indicating its manufacture during the first year of production. The majority of these Model 60s were purchased by the DSC (Defense Supply Corp) and were subsequently issued to stateside railway guards, factory guards, and police units, among other government institutions and organizations. Company address and model markings on the top of the receiver. Round steel barrel with cooling fins the rear. The top of the barrel is stamped "PS" at the breech, indicative of government acceptance by the DSC. Blade front sight with sheet metal leaf rear. Metal components are factory blued, with the wood stock retaining its light oil finish. Factory sling studs and smooth steel buttplate. Includes 1 original 20 round blued steel magazine. Magazine is "M50" marked but they use the same magazines. CONDITION: Metal retains 90% of its original finish with light wear and handling marks. Wood is excellent. Bore is shiny with strong rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has a few scratches. Clean example of a low serial number rifle! JWA
