Desirable Stevens-Pope "Schuetzen Special" Model 54 rifle with the large frame 44 action made by J. Stevens Arms and Tool Company and barreled by master gunsmith Harry Melville Pope during his time at Stevens between 1901 to 1905. 34" blued half-round 8-groove left-handed rifled .32-40 rifled barrel with Stevens wind gauge front sight and Pope Micrometer tang peep sight. Barrel has Pope number of 600 with false muzzle also numbered 600. Barrel is marked on underside in front of forearm "32-40 by Lynden WA" which is the importer's mark when this gun was imported from Canada. Case hardened vignette full coverage engraved 44 action with Schuetzen double set triggers and walnut handled lever. Walnut deluxe checkered Schuetzen style stock with Schuetzen buttplate marked "627" matching serial number of gun with matching number 627 walnut full coverage checkered Schnabel forearm. Comes with Pope grease pump, Ideal capper, Pope single cavity bullet mold, brass bullet starter, Pope false muzzle, and fitted wooden case. CONDITION: Overall 90% plus with slight handling and usage marks with excellent rifling and mechanics. Small hole in stock behind tang. DLM
