Nice example of a World War II era Chelsea Type B Model 12E clock which was meant to be mounted on the wall of deck and engine rooms. The clock was made to the U.S. government’s specifications for the U.S. Maritime Commission leading up to and during the World War II era. The case is constructed of black phenolic resin and features a hinged bezel that is secured with a knurled screw knob fastener. The dial is treated with a silver finish that contrasts with the black numerals and the black enamel hands. The face is marked “Chelsea Clock Co. / Boston” and “U.S. Maritime Commission / Ser. No.”. The clock is missing its key, but when the second hand is moved, it ticks smoothly around the clock. CONDITION: The phenolic resin case is nicely preserved and does not exhibit any major cracks. The glass exhibits some scattered blemishes but is otherwise clean. Face exhibits scattered scratches. Overall very good. JLD
