Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, with this example built for martial use during the Civil War, bearing inspector stamps on major components. Blued finish. 8" octagon barrel with 3-line "PATENTED SETP. 14, 1858/E. REMIGNTON & SONS, ILLION NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW MODEL" address. Blade front sight and frame notch rear. 6-shot percussion cylinder with safety notches between chambers. Grips are 2-piece smooth walnut with script "BH" inspector cartouche on left panel. CONDITION: Fine, retaining significant amounts of factory applied blued finish thinning to gray patina in some areas. Some pitting present near muzzle. Trigger guard has been polished bright. Grips are fine having a few impressions and a legible but faint cartouche. Bore is dark with light pitting throughout, but retains strong rifling. Action requires attention.
