Halfstock plains style percussion rifle attributed to Jacob Hawken of St. Louis, Missouri circa 1850. 30 - 3/4" octagon .45 caliber barrel with rifle sights and barrel having an illegible barrel maker's mark at breech on the underside. Percussion unmarked lock with double set trigger control. Curly maple halfstock with cheekpiece and brass and silver furniture with architecture similar to Hawken's work. Consignor has included a tag stating this rifle is illustrated in John Baird's Book "Fifteen Years In The Hawken Lode" on page 115. CONDITION: Overall good with wood having a glued crack from nosecap to trigger guard. Dark bore with good mechanics. DLM
