Sharps Model 1874 Old Reliable single shot rifle made by the Sharps Rifle Company, Bridgeport, Connecticut from 1871 to 1881. 30" octagon barrel measuring 1" across muzzle with barrel marked "CAL 45" with sporting front sight and graduated rear Lawrence flip sight with serial number under forearm matching action serial number. Case hardened action with double set triggers with lockplate being a ground plate. Walnut plain shotgun-style stock with Sharp's checkered steel buttplate with Schnabel type plain walnut 2-screw forearm. CONDITION: Metal turning a silvery patina along with action. Wood has dry appearance usual with guns having been used in the west with cracking along buttplate. Shootable bore with good mechanics. A neat old Sharps. DLM
