World War I US Navy Chelsea No. 2 ship's deck clock. The clock was manufactured by Chelsea Clock Co. of Boston, Massachusetts, and is marked as such on the face, as well as "U.S. NAVY / DECK CLOCK No 2 / NO, 6210". This example is housed in a brass case with a glass cover which is also marked "CHELSEA / CLOCK CO." and numbered "129857" on the reverse. The clock features an F-S adjuster to quickly fine tune the speed at which the clock is running and is complete with its original key marked "Chelsea" in script writing. Highlighting the face are silver numerals and silver painted hands which nicely contrast the face. The clock is mounted on a custom wood stand. CONDITION: The brass housing exhibits a pleasing mustard patina with scattered blemishes. The face exhibits scattered scratches and the paint has chipped off several areas on the hands revealing their mustard color. The glass exhibits light blemishes. When wound the clock functions properly. Overall good. JLD
