Rock Island Armory Model 1903 Springfield bolt action rifle. Made 1910 at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. The barrel is marked "RIA / (Flaming Bomb) / 8-10". Trigger guard is marked with a "(Flaming Bomb) / N.R.A.". This indicates the rifle was sold out of military service, on the civilian market to an NRA member. Crisp, boxed "C.N./1910" in script on the left side of the stock. Circled "P" on the bottom of the wrist. Replacement Lyman blade front sight with original rear ladder adjustable to 2,700 yards. Original military blued finish forming a nice even brown patina. Straight grip wood stock with finger grooves, having its original light oil finish. Checkered metal buttplate with trapdoor. CONDITION: Metal retains 60% of its original finish with most areas forming a brown patina. Wood has a few handling marks and scratches. Bore is clean overall, having some light frosting. Muzzle gauges at a "2". Mechanically fine. JWA
