Desirable and seldom seen 1 of 2 consecutive serial number Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 Supergrade Featherweights made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1955, with this one being serial number 326824. Correct 22" blued Winchester Proof Steel tapered round barrel with correct factory hooded ramped Redfield No. 255 gold bead front sight, correct Lyman 16B rear folding sight, Winchester address, "MODEL - 70 - FEATHERWEIGHT -", and caliber "308 WIN" markings. 1 of 101 made in this caliber! Underside of barrel correctly marked "SUPER". Matted action with matching serial number jeweled bolt, jeweled follower, and correct hollow handle bolt knob. Correct blued detachable floorplate marked "SUPERGRADE". Highly figured American walnut wrap-around checkered 1-piece Monte Carlo stock with late style cheekpiece, black checkered aluminum buttplate, steel grip cap, molded forend tip, and inletted detachable sling swivel bases. Comes with correct style leather sling and original quick detachable sling swivels. PROVENANCE: Bill Bean Collection. CONDITION: 95% plus original blue and action finish with light handling marks. 95% plus original varnish with near perfect checkering with light storage marks. As new bore and mechanics.
