Approximately 150 Winchester Model 1894 rifles were manufactured with case hardened frames. This special ordered, 2nd year of production, Winchester Model 1894 rifle, serial number 10888 shipped from the factory on November 6, 1895. 26" octagon barrel with 2/3 length magazine tube. Chambered in .38-55 WCF cartridge. Plain trigger. Highly figured checkered, pistol grip stock and forearm, with special ordered oil finish. Shotgun-style butt with checkered hard rubber buttplate with Winchester logo. Case hardened frame, hammer, and lever. Assembly number 2427 found on the inside bottom tang and inside stock top tang slot. Letters "RB" for "Rubber Buttplate" also found on inside bottom tang. Standard rear barrel sight and Lyman No. 20 front sight. Excellent overall with 95-97% bright original blue on the barrel. Bright original case color on hammer. Frame and lever have fading case color with frame mostly turning a "nickel" patina. The wood is excellent showing extreme figure with light wear. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is bright and clean. Overall a very beautiful and rare rifle with exhibition quality wood. -MKS-
