Extremely hard to find L.C. Smith A1 Grade in rare 16 gauge made by Hunter Arms Company in Fulton, New York circa 1899. L.C. Smith Production Records Book lists this as 1 of 752 made A1 Grades, 1 of 10 in 16 gauge and 1 of 7 in 16 gauge with 28" barrels. Gun has 28" chain Damascus barrels with matted rib with gold divider at breech, auto ejectors and 2 - 3/4" chambers. Finely engraved casehardened sculpted sidelock action with vignette and animal scene full coverage engraving, 3-position safety, and double triggers. English highly figured walnut checkered dished pistol grip stock with period-looking Silvers style solid rubber recoil pad. Matching full coverage fine checkered splinter forearm with ebony inlay and push-button release. Comes with L.C. Smith Collector's Association Research Letter and a hard plastic case. A rare L.C. Smith! CONDITION: 80% fading chain Damascus finish with balance fading to a silvery patina. Action has traces of case with balance fading to a silvery patina. Wood has been cleaned with added coat of Linseed oil and some honest dings and marks. Forearm has some chips missing along barrel edge. Near perfect screws with bright bores and tight lockup and mechanics. DLM
