Manufactured 1918. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight with left side of slide marked with 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony. "H" stamped at top of firing pin retaining plate channel, "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" on right side of slide. Barrel stamped with "P / H" vertically on barrel hood with muzzle up, what appears to be an reverse D on left lug. Top of frame stamped with "H", "Q", and "G" near disconnector hole. Left side of frame with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" roll mark on dust cover, "JMG" proof near magazine release for Gilbert. Right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, checkered slide release with mill cut, thick tab safety with mill cut, checkered magazine release, long smooth trigger, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond checkered walnut grips. 2 tone magazine. CONDITION: Very good plus, retaining the vast majority of the blue finish with some minor marks throughout from handling and storage, including minor silvering at reciprocating areas. Somewhat heavier silvering towards muzzle consistent with holster wear. Some splotches of brown towards high edges, right side of dust cover has a small area of some extremely fine pitting. Straps are very good with some patina mixing with blue. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is damaged with a ring visible approximately 1/4" ahead of throat that, when careful examined externally, seems to extend to a crack that follows barrel lock up lugs. Most likely a squib round was not caught during firing and a second round was shot into the rear of a stuck bullet. EMW
