Model 1895 saddle ring carbine manufactured by Winchester in 1931. Left side of barrel is stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." followed by the caliber designation. Left side of frame bears Winchester's 2-line address, with the top of the frame bearing the caliber designation. Top of upper tang is stamped "MODEL 95/ - WINCHESTER -" above patent information. Features include a blue finish, 22" round barrel, blade front sight, Western peep rear sight, saddle ring, as well as a solid walnut forend and buttstock with butt trap. Bottom of buttstock is mounted with a sling swivel, with the forward swivel appearing to be period modified. Barrel has been drilled and tapped and exhibits a small replaced section just ahead of the front screw, with the left side of the frame having been drilled and tapped at one point in time. Right side of forend bears 9 notches carved into it at the tip. Handguard is not present, original rear sight has been removed. CONDTION: Metal components retain traces of their original blue finish, with the balance having turned a gray and brown patina overall as well as a few scattered spots of cleaned pitting. Magazine housing and lever retain modest amounts of their original blue finish. Excellent bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Walnut furniture shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, with the buttstock bearing a chip to the rear of the sling swivel.
