1875 vintage Colt Single Action Army, serial number 21313. 7 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .45 Colt with early italicized single line barrel address with serifs on either end, correct profile front sight, and frame notch rear. Early style ejector rod housing featuring donut ejector rod head. Nickel-plated finish with nitre blued screws and attractive fire blue hammer. 1-piece plain walnut grips. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel underneath ejector rod housing, frame, trigger guard, cylinder, and butt. Interestingly marked on right side of frame with scarcely encountered "B. KITTREDGE & CO." / "CIN.O." retailer marking. An example of this marking can also be found on page 24 of "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" by Graham, Kopec, and Moore. This marking is commonly seen on other revolvers of the period such as Smith & Wesson's and Colt 1878's (Kittredge was one of the largest retailers of the period, with most guns being shipped to Kittredge for Western use) but only these 2 Colt Single Actions have been observed by the author. CONDITION: Very good, with most of an attractive period added nickel plating remaining with scattered storage marks throughout, especially on barrel and both sides of frame. Added fire bluing on hammer is bright with scattered light storage marks. Grips are strong with no major signs of distress and light finish loss on high edge near butt. Mechanically fine. Bore is overall bright with modest abrasion and well-defined rifling. An interesting early Civilian Colt Single Action Army with a unique marking. TON
