Only approximately 850 No. 1 Volcanic Pocket Pistols were produced from 1857-1862 by the New Haven Arms Company. 4" blued barrel chambered in .31 Rocketball with cone front sight, dovetailed rear, and barrel address reading: "NEW HAVEN CONN." / "PATENT FEB, 14. 1854". Brass frame. 2-piece plain varnished walnut grips. Serial number 1277 can be found on left side of frame underneath grips, and on each grip panel with grips removed. CONDITION: Very good, with barrel and integral magazine tube assembly turned a freckled grey patina with storage marks throughout and visible traces of original bluing in well-protected areas. Brass is an untouched mellow patina. Grips are excellent and well-fitting with no major signs of distress, light finish loss on edges near butt, and left grip darkening with age. Action needs attention as hammer follows firing pin when lever is cycled. Bore is frosted with minor abrasion throughout and well-defined rifling. TON
