Colt's first large frame double action revolver popular in the West. This example was manufactured in 1883 chambered in the cross compatible .44-40 Winchester cartridge. Nickel finished with fire blued small parts. 7 - 1/2" round barrel with 1-line address on top and "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched panel on left. Standard 6-shot fluted cylinder, ".44 CF" marked trigger guard, bird's head butt with lanyard loop, and checkered hard rubber grips with rampant Colt logos. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel and cylinder retain significant portions of their factory applied nickel finish with some flaking and wear. Etched panel faint but still largely visible. The frame has turned a silver gray patina with some cleaned spots of oxidation. Grips are good with some moderate wear. Shootable frosted bore with strong rifling. Indexes correctly. BAS
