Manufactured in 1863 for martial use in the Civil War. Standard .44 caliber 8" barrel with New York address, German silver blade front sight and hammer notch rear. Rebated 6-shot percussion cylinder rollstamped with naval engagement scene. Shoulder stock cut frame, hammer, and loading lever are case hardened. 1-piece smooth walnut grip with "HLL" cartouche on left grip and a partially illegible cartouche on the right. Significant portions of original blued and case hardened finishes are retained especially in protected areas, with balance thinning to a mottled gray patina. Grips are good with impressions. Markings are still crisp including cylinder scene. Fine bright bore. Crisp mechanics. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, barrel assembly, wedge, cylinder arbor, cylinder, and grip straps. BAS
