Manufactured in 1887 at the Spandau Arsenal. Standard military configuration with 32" blued barrel marked at shank with appropriate proofs, blade front sight and ladder rear sight. Plain walnut stock with several military stamps retained by 2 high polish blued bands and a blued trigger guard. Butt plate is regimentally marked "i.St/28.". CONDITION: Very fine. Blued components retain vast majority of their arsenal applied finish showing some light wear and freckling. Components which remain in the white show a some minor spots of oxidation. Stock has some impressions and one chip on the right side but retains crisp markings. Fine bore and mechanics. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed throughout. An attractive example of Germany's first standard issue repeating rifle. BAS
