Unusually long 27 - 1/2" barrel with muzzle flaring to approximately 2" across bell. Octagonal to round configuration with top 3 flats of octagonal section decoration with damascened geometrics. Muzzle decorated with light floral engraving and 5 scalloped lines. Ramrod with trumpet tip retained by single ferrule and feeding into a reinforced mouth. Sheet iron stock tip. Lock with traditional English markings including "TOWER", an arrow (feathered, probably meant to be a broad arrow), and GR crown proof. Swan neck cock, bridled pan. Given the quality of the lock and the markings, this is more indicative of a Middle Eastern copy of an English lock. Brass furniture, sideplate additionally retained by 2 copper pins. Quality of furniture somewhat crude casting throughout. CONDITION: Metal is essentially a smooth chocolate patina throughout, with flashes of gunmetal grey. Stock has numerous bumps and bruises throughout, including some chips along stock line and cracks around tang. Ramrod ferrule with some damage to rear. Left side of butt has a few lines of grain separation. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. EMW
