Scarce Whitney Howard lever action rifle known as the Howard Thunderbolt made by Whitney Arms Company, Whitneyville, Connecticut from 1866 to 1870. 25" blued round .44 caliber rifled barrel with rifle sights (rear missing) with barrel stamped "MANUF'D FOR HOWARD BROTHERS BY WHITNEY ARMS CO. WHITNEYVILLE, CONN". Single shot lever action rimfire action with internal hammer and single trigger. Walnut checkered stock with iron hardware. CONDITION: Overall good. Metal turning a plum patina and wood has an added coat of old oil with no visible cracks or repairs. Pitted bore with good mechanics. DLM
